Winter Roast at The Gables

The Gables invites you to join us this winter for our traditional three course roast buffet. Designed by head chef Darren Dayley. The menu includes all the traditional favourites with a contemporary twist and live piano music.
The carvery buffet will be offered every Saturday in June, July and August. The Gables boasts open fireplaces and lead light windows which overlook our sweeping verandah. We have tables that will accommodate all booking sizes with private rooms available for groups. Perfect for your next family celebration. Our buffet lunch includes warm rolls, soup, two roast meats with all the trimmings, roast vegetables, fresh stylish salads, desserts, cheese, coffee, tea and chocolates.

Thank you for considering The Gables for your future conference, seminar or meeting. You will have the use of our superb recently redecorated front rooms which feature leadlight windows, open fireplaces and access to our sweeping verandah. The verandah makes a great break area in the warmer months. You will also be able to make use of our beautiful garden offering you a quiet peaceful enviroment. We have free off street parking for thirty- five cars.

Hot Cooked Breakfast " Traditional" $34 per person
Buffet style, consisting of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, hash browns, tomatoes and beans served with piping-hot country toasts, cereals, fresh fruit platter, yoghurt, orange and apple juice, freshly brewed coffee and a variety of teas.

Luncheon

Option 1 Buffet Luncheon $34 per person
Light luncheon of an assortment of sandwiches and a hot dish, fresh fruit platter, orange juice, soft drinks, coffee and tea.

Option 2 Luncheon $44 per person
Choice of a main meal served with garden salad and hot crusty bread rolls, followed by a fresh fruit platter served with orange juice, mineral water, soft drinks, coffee and tea. This option is table service. Wine optional.

Option 3 Luncheon $48 per person
Two main courses served alternatively followed by one dessert. Served with a variety of soft drinks, juices and mineral water. Concluding with coffee, tea and petits fours.This option is table service. Wine optional.

Option 4 Buffet Luncheon $48 per person
Consisting of a choice of three main courses served with two types of salad and a fresh fruit platter. Served with a variety of soft drinks, juices and mineral water, concluding with coffee and tea. Wine optional.

After work Savouries

$32 per person
A selection of savouries served with drinks from the bar. Drinks paid for on consumption.

We will require a $500 deposit to confirm your booking. Final numbers are required 48 hours prior to your function and payment is on invoice. A minimum of 10 people are required.

Joan Saxton

Joan Saxton Lunch Group

The Joan Saxton Lecture Lunch, established in 1970, is held at The Gables on the last Tuesday of the month. We have an entertaining lecture by renowned speakers that have included the Honorable Professor Geoffrey Blainey AC, Ms Annette Allison and Mr John-Michael Howson OAM, to name just a few.

Joan Saxton started and operated Melbourne’s first speaker’s agency in 1970. The agency was hugely successful and continues today. After selling the agency, Joan retained the Joan Saxton Lecture Lunch Club and it still operates today.

Lunch is two courses with coffee, chocolates and wine, all served in our grand ballroom, which features an exquisite leadlight window. Guests are encouraged to make up a table of any number or join with others in a welcoming social atmosphere.

Off-street parking is available. Arrival time is 11.30 a.m. for a 12 p.m. sit down. Lunch is served, followed by the lecture and question time. The price is $55 per person.

A hard-hitting presentation, Kathy will talk about the realities of Family Violence and show how significant change can be brought to people’s lives when people come together: each doing what he or she can.

Funeral services may be held in either the drawing room, which includes an open fireplace and a conservatory, or our magnificent ballroom. If you would prefer to be outdoors, you may choose the beautiful garden, which include a music rotunda and a rose-covered gazebo. The Gables will set up either the garden or the house with chairs and fresh flower arrangements. You service time is one hour. You are welcome to arrive early to set up.

Beverages served on consumption $30 per person
One and a half hours (under 45 people $295 room charge will apply)

Elegantly presented on our 100-year-old oak table and served by our professional staff. Selection of ribbon sandwiches, sausage rolls and freshly baked scones with jam and cream served with coffee and a selection of Twinings teas.
